Born and raised on the Isle of Wight, I was a very shy child. I found life and relationships to be awkward, making my path very rocky at times.
I never considered myself to be musical, though my family are deeply ingrained in music history, paving the way for live music events. Music was always of high importance in our house, I was brought up on a diet of British and American folk, pop and rock. I always believed I would never be able to sing, I thought I was tone deaf and my enjoyment of music was purely listening to it.
In my forties I decided to delve into songwriting, something that had been nagging me and in the back of my mind for years. Always in amazement of great lyricists, I wanted to see if I could find a way to open the door to all those feelings I'd kept shut away and put them in a song. Of course in my head I was just thinking about lyric writing and believed someone else would write the music, how naive I was. This is where my journey began, I took a course with the Songwriting Academy and started to get creative. So then I had some songs, but they were my songs and they needed to be told by me. I started to learn to sing and play guitar, never with the intention of releasing anything, never believing I could sing well enough to perform live or record songs. Never before have I felt so vulnerable and exposed in learning to sing and express myself this way. Many times I wanted to throw the towel in, but as big as the vulnerability and exposure were, the grit and determination was bigger. Even now I don’t really understand what is driving it but I do know that it has become a passion and it is now who I am.
I hope that people are inspired by my story of turning something I never thought possible into something I am proud to share with the world. I hope that my songs speak to people and if they can help people make a bit of sense of this confusing world we live in then I am happy. I feel very humbled that anyone would want to listen to my music and it feels all very surreal. Thank you for reading.
Of course I haven’t done this alone, this has been a big joint effort and I've had a huge amount of help from these wonderful people:

Russell
It’s all his fault! Without Russell I almost certainly would have dropped out of this long ago. He spent hundreds of hours teaching me to sing, when I lost faith which was often, he never did or at least never let it show. I take my songs together Russell with a guitar and vocal and he brings them to life as I watch him skillfully produce them. For more about Russell Nash take a look at his site
Daisy
My eldest daughter, my wingman. Always there to play live with me from the very start when we were like a rabbits in the headlights. Stepped up by my side so I wasn't alone. She keeps me in check at all times!
Tilly
Tilly, my second daughter, has been playing bass in live performances with us the past year. Her strong sense of rhythm really comes through in all our performances. Tilly is paving her own way into performing too, watch this space.
Peter
My brother! Always the one I go to for advice, who I look up to in many ways He has always been a great musician and his band The Stayawakes still consists of friends from his school days.
His guitar on the tracks has given them an added dimension and I get an incredible sense of comfort when his backing vocals come in. It gave me a sense of validation that he was eager to be a part of this project.
Dan T
Professional, creative and precise, I am fortunate to have had Dan Telander on hand to put the beat into my songs, even more fortunate am I when he joins us onstage.
Cynthia
I am honered to have Concertmaster Cynthia Treggor recording on my songs. Cynthia has travelled the world playing violin in various Orchestras, she was the founder and leader of the Complesso of Santa Cecilia, Rome, Italy and founder of the chamber group Arioso. Cynthia also performed as a soloist in the Harftford Symphony Core Orchestra to name a few of her many achievements.
Sam
Sam has mixed all my tracks to date, nothing is too much trouble for him, he puts his own personal touch on the songs. His help and advice is always served with a smile and a bounce. Sam is not just a mix engineer but does a complete audio visual package for more information go to: CARTER BRAZIER
